"Zentsuji City: Zentsuji Namdaemun" Visited in January 2022. I like historic sites and the building itself, so I often go to see them. The first photo is the scenery when facing out from the precincts. Below are some explanations excerpted from the Zentsuji website. Namdaemun is the main gate of Zentsuji Temple, located to the south of Toin. The current building was rebuilt in 1908 to commemorate the victory of the Russo-Japanese War. It is built in a format called Koryomon and is 9.7m high. The signboard of "Mt. Godake", which is the mountain number of Zentsuji, is displayed above the front. Looking at the details, the dragon, Karyobinka, and phoenix are three-dimensionally displayed on the water plate of the top of the building, and the four heavenly statues (southeast: Mochikokuten, southwest) are on the eaves of the four corners. : Zhouchoten, Northwest: Hirometen, Northeast: Tamonten) is enshrined. Kobo Daishi The story about the forehead of Kobo Daishi's autograph, which is said to have been displayed at the gate of Zentsuji, is included in the "Takano Daishi Line Drawing", which shows the life of Kukai and its miracle, Rei Rui. -A long time ago, Zentsuji had a gate with a flat frame written by Kobo Daishi. Onmyoji, Seimei Abe, had the opportunity to visit Sanuki Province because of his relationship, and when he approached this gate, the fire of the torch of his subordinate demon was extinguished, and when he passed the gate, it reignited. Seeing this, Seimei felt that there were four heavenly kings at this gate, protecting the temple from fire. ~ The four heavenly kings listed in the Namdaemun are based on this spirit.
