★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 家族で訪れました。アキシマクジラのこと、そして70年以上前に起きた列車事故のことを子どもに伝えるために、ことし２月に自家用車を使って訪れました。
この公園の名の由来となったアキシマクジラの化石は、1961年、八高線多摩川橋梁の下で見つかったそうです。多摩川左岸の堤防上に案内板がありました。昭島市役所のホームページに詳しい解説が掲示されています。
次に、列車事故の件について。
当公園駐車場に接する八高線多摩川橋梁では、1945年8月に列車正面衝突事故が発生、100人以上もの多くの方が亡くなられました。慰霊施設はなく、アキシマクジラの案内板の隣に、事故のあらましを記した案内板と、事故に遭った列車のものとされる車輪がモニュメントのように展示されています。
帰り道、拝島駅前の書店で八高線事故をテーマとした書籍を買いました。本のタイトルは「追跡！まぼろしの八高線衝突事故」。昭島近代史調査報告書というシリーズの第8巻で、昭島市役所をはじめ昭島市内だけで販売されているようです。
I visited with my family. I visited this February in a private car to tell my children about Aximakzilla and the train accident that happened more than 70 years ago.
The fossil of Aximaczilla, which is the origin of the name of this park, is said to have been found under the Tamagawa Bridge on the Hachiko Line in 1961. There was a guide board on the embankment on the left bank of the Tama River. Detailed explanations are posted on the Akishima City Office website.
Next, about the train accident.
At the Hachiko Line Tamagawa Bridge, which borders the park parking lot, a head-on train collision occurred in August 1945, killing more than 100 people. There is no memorial facility, and next to the information board of Aximaczilla, a guide board with an outline of the accident and wheels that are supposed to belong to the train that was involved in the accident are displayed like a monument.
On the way back, I bought a book on the theme of the Hachiko Line accident at a bookstore in front of Haijima Station. The title of the book is "Chase! The Hachiko Line Collision Accident". It is the 8th volume of the series called Akishima Modern History Survey Report, and it seems that it is sold only in Akishima City including Akishima City Office.
