二本松畠山氏の一族が本宮領主となって鹿子田氏を称したが、四代政満の頃（天文元年？）、同族の川崎氏に追われ本宮から杉田館に移り、家満の代まで杉田館に住した。伊達家の「天文の乱」のころ、川崎氏が宗家畠山氏と対立し本宮を追われ岩城に逃れると、以後、鹿子田村元は再び本宮へ戻り鹿子田館に居館した。杉田館は弟満久が家督した。【本宮市史参照】　現在この地は光恩寺となり高台からの眺めはすばらしい。本堂奥の墓地には「奥州探題二本松畠山家杉田館主　杉田刑部少輔殿累代の塔」（杉田は鹿子田の別称）、「陸奥守従四位左近中将　藤原実方朝臣供養塔」が並んでいる。
