 I had a hard time searching. There is nothing in the castle. There is only a stele.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 遺跡の跡とだけしかわからないのであまり感動などは起きない。戊辰戦争後様々な事がありいち早く廃藩をした長岡藩。一部は別の場所に資料館として残るのでそちらに行く方が歴史的には色々わかると思います。
I don't really get impressed because I can only see the remains of the ruins. The Nagaoka clan was the first to abolish the clan due to various things after the Boshin War. Some of them will remain as museums in other places, so I think you can understand various things historically by going there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 長岡城の上に街がある。 駅が本丸跡。 感慨深いですね。何も残っていないが、お城のあった場所に人々の暮らしがある。石碑があって気づかされることですね。
There is a city above Nagaoka Castle. The station is the remains of Honmaru. It's deeply emotional. There is nothing left, but people live in the place where the castle was. You will notice that there is a stone monument.

戊辰の役（北越戦争）で同盟軍と新政府軍との間で争奪戦が繰り広げられた事で有名。
城跡は長岡駅となり遺構は消失。長岡市郷土資料館に長岡城の城塁の一部が残る。
The castle of the Echigo Nagaoka domain.
It is famous for the battle between the alliance army and the new government army in the role of Boshin (Battle of Hokuetsu).
The ruins of the castle became Nagaoka Station and the remains disappeared. A part of the base of Nagaoka Castle remains in the Nagaoka City Folk Museum.
