毎年、森ノ宮ピロティホールの地下にある「森の宮遺跡展示室」で春・夏・秋に数日公開している。（公開日は大阪市教育委員会ＨＰに掲載、電話問い合わせは教育委員会文化財保護担当06-6208-9166）
以下、展示室前の説明より。
「森の宮貝塚（中央区森ノ宮中央１丁目）大阪市顕彰史跡第１９６号
森の宮貝塚は南北に細長く延びる上町台地の北東部、その東斜面に位置し、現在の森ノ宮ピロティホールの場所を中心に東西４５ｍ、南北１００ｍ、厚さ約２ｍの規模で広がっている。１９７０年代に行われた４回にわたる発掘調査により、縄文時代後期（約４０００年前）から弥生時代中期（約２０００年前）にかけて形成されたものであることがわかった。当時は、この場所から生駒山の麓付近まで広大な入り江があり、そこから生活の楯を獲得していた。貝塚はマガキを主体とする下層、セタシジミを主体とする上層からなり、出土遺物から下層は縄文時代後期に、上層は縄文時代晩期～弥生時代中期のもので、その貝塚の変化により、河内湾→河内潟→河内湖という淡水化の過程を示すものとして注目されている。」

"Morinomiya Kaizuka (Morinomiya Chuo, Chuo-ku) Osaka City Honored Historic Site No. 196
Morinomiya Kaizuka is located on the eastern slope of the northeastern part of the Uemachi Plateau, which extends from north to south. Four excavations conducted in the 1970s revealed that it was formed from the late Jomon period (about 4000 years ago) to the middle Yayoi period (about 2000 years ago). At that time, there was a huge cove from this place to the foot of Mt. Ikoma, from which the Shield of Life was acquired. The shell mound is composed of a lower layer mainly composed of oysters and an upper layer mainly composed of C. albicans. Kawachi lagoon → Lake Kawachi is attracting attention as an indicator of the process of desalination. "
