渡田の庚申塔道標は、さつき歩道橋・際にあって道標には（正面像下中央）「南此方、渡田村道／小田村道」、（右面）「東此方、大嶋村／大し、道」、（左面）「西此方川さき」、（裏面）「北此方川さき」／正面頂部を矩形に削り込み青面金剛坐像（六手合掌、三猿）の陽刻と刻まれています。庚申塔とは、「庚申」は「かのえさる」とも読み、60日に一度めぐってくる庚申の日に、その夜を眠らずに過ごして健康長寿を願う信仰がある。これを守庚申とか庚申待という。庚申塔の起源は、室町時代末期の庚申待板碑にさかのぼることができるが、現在最も一般的なものとして数多く見ることができるのは、江戸時代の年号が刻まれている墓石型のものである。庚申塔は大きく分けて像塔と文字塔に分類することができる。像塔には、青面金剛を刻んだものが最も多く、次に三猿を刻んだものが続いているが、この他に如来像・観音像・地蔵像などがある。文字塔は、「庚申塔」と刻むものが最も多く、その他「青面塔」「青面金剛」「猿田彦大神」、また名号や題目を刻むものなど多くの種類があり、また塔の型もさまざまに分けることができる。
