タメガイは「溜が井」であり、もともとは水を溜めておく場所のことでした。
この辺りには現在でも、各所に湧水があり、昔から水に恵まれた土地でした。
この地名には、豊かな水田が開かれた新田庄の頃の歴史が反映されています。
ただ、もともと代々地元に住んでおられる方や高齢の方はタメガイ、新住民や若い方はタベイと発音する場合があり、困ることもある…と町内の方が話しておられました(;_;)/~~~
 The town name of this Tabei seems to be pronounced Tabay now, but originally it was Tamegai.
