★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a convenient place to look at and buy Sakai's legendary knives. The museum is also a cooperative, so the knives of many famous forges are available here. Also, there was a friendly, English-speaking local who was a chef, who was helpful in translating and telling me all the details of each knife and helping me choose.
So instead of visiting the individual forges, which is inconvenient as they are scattered all over this great big city, if you have no brand preference, and you want a wide range of knives to choose from, the knife museum is in my opinion the best place to go to.
