★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came for lunch and the seafood don was really great. You could also pure the soup when there are still some rice, and it would become just like another kind of food. A good restaurant to come if visit nearby.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time I came here in February 2014, only few customer visit. But when I visit second times in last year October, there are many peoples, and I cannot have a meal here.
The day before yesterday when I visited here again, they said here are not available for one person. And then today I visiting again, still the same.
It seems that they are no welcome a foreigner who doesn’t speaking Japanese, and also they don’t want to tell me when is available for reservation, I don’t know why, it just make me feeling really bad.

It’s a small spot but we had all our baggage from traveling and they didn’t make it a big deal at all, they were excited to see people from America! The food was soooo good, get the luxury meal, you won’t regret it! It’s even more of an experience than just the food! Enjoy Kyoto!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hands down my favourite place to eat fish in Kyoto for lunch. Usually due to work only able to eat there on Saturday lunch times but definitely worth getting there early to before the rush/queue forms. Depending on your appetite they usually have the choices of Zeitaku Meshi, Yori Zeitaku Meshi, Maji Zeitaku Meshi. Essentially small, medium and large sets. The pictures below are the Yori/medium set and a Maji/large set. The regular Zeitaku/smalls’ usually have a lot of vegetable side dishes rather than fish dishes (though I never asked but as this is Japan, it’s probably not vegetarian friendly using fish broth as the base). The Maji/large portion is a large portion of fish. Come with a big appetite if you order the Maji. During the weekdays they have a different special set.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was fresh and very tasty. The staff was amazingly friendly. The only thing is that they don’t seem to speak English (I spoke with them in Japanese). Unless you have allergies (in that case you need to prepare it in Japanese) just choose one of the menus available. Very good. Just as a side note, my girlfriend is gluten intolerant and when asked (in Japanese) the kitchen staff immediately found an alternative! Indeed one of the best place I have been!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ LOVE this place!!! Every time we are in Kyoto, we go here. Their daily set menus are amazing and perfect to fill you up! Be careful though, this shop is quite popular and it is most often difficult to get immediate seating.
