Outdoor onsen hidden in the forest with massage waterfall. The bomb!
Indoor onsen lovely, clean quiet.
Way off the beaten path for most gaijin. Was the first sop on the 2014 Onsen tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Incredible 7th floor Onsen. Some tips for the non Japanese speakers :
- if it's your first Onsen, don't bring your shampoo / soap for the outer bath, you only have to rinse yourself by scooping water from the bath with the provided buckets.
- Enjoy the 7th floor Onsen scenery, in the middle of the forest, surrounded by beautiful pine trees, and relax :)
- you can ask for a free shuttle bound for Hamasaka Station (you'll save around 4000¥ vs a taxi).
- Be sure to take the dinner option, there are not many choices outside of the resort and the resort's food is super good ;)
Cons : the resort is a little bit old and not in its prime. A little bit of cigarette smell might be there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A friend and I stayed here for 4 nights as part of a mystery holiday. Some front desk help are nice to further clarify. The room itself was hotel standard clean. In short, the rooms look fantastic. We had a very enjoyable few days there for some much needed travel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is a really, really solid 3 star place, but we had a great time and it was a great price, so I gave it four stars.
If you look hard for faults in the rooms, you can find them, and the hot spring just had one big indoor bath plus a lovely outdoor one that was located up a load of stairs, but it is a really good place for a family, or a group of friends.
My kids really enjoyed the outdoor pool (probably summer only), ping pong, karaoke with grandma, plus the buffet.
You can find way fancier places than this, but I thought it was a really solid 3 star place, and extremely reasonable.
