★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 開基唯信房は、俗姓を宍戸の域主宍戸四郎知家の三男、山城守義治といった。義治は、どういう理由からか、若い時から仏教に興味を持ち、特に親鸞聖人の教えには感激していたという。二十歳を過ぎる頃になり、いわゆる無常観を味わいはしめ、深刻化していった彼は、盛んに稲田草庵へ出かけては聖人の教化を受け、法名を『唯信』と賜り弟子になった。寺伝では二十二歳と記されている。
このように、若くして無常を味わい聖人の弟子になった人は珍しい。弟子になったあとは、聖人の関東教化の折、いつもそばに居ていろいろと細かな仕事をしていたという。唯信房は戸守を根拠に、各地の布教活動につとめ、七十六歳で仕生。
