A 3.0km promenade created in memory of Mr. Kanetsugu Naoe, who was a military commander of the Warring States period, and his wife, Mr. Ship, who was born by Yoita (bicycles are allowed, but cars and automatics). Originally, it was an abandoned railway trail between Yoita Station and Kami-Yoita Station on the Nagaoka Railway (Echigo Kotsu Nagaoka Line), which was abolished in 1975. Until 2007, rails, sleepers, ballasts, and overhead wires and pillars remained relatively clean. Former Yoitamachi (merged with Nagaoka City in 2006) has been considering the use of the site for many years and finally decided to make it a promenade. Yoita became famous due to the big hit of the 2009 NHK Taiga drama, Heart of a Samurai. The promenade was influenced by this and was completed in March 2011. Former Yoita Station side (The station building still exists and is currently being used by a transporter. There are still places where rails remain in the vicinity. Abandoned railway tracks heading to the former Iwakata Station However, there is a magnificent gate called Kanetsumon on the side of the old Kami-Yoita station (currently there is a rest room with a Western-style toilet). Please note that paper wasps are flying around the old Kami-Yoita station on sunny and hot days from May to September. After passing the Kenji Gate, you can see the trace of the abandoned line heading to the former Makihara Station (currently, the ceremony hall for JA Funeral Festival is built).
