This Yasaka Shrine in Yajima is a transfer of the spirit of Yasaka Shrine in Kita-cho, and its history is engraved on the stone monument in the precincts and is as follows. When Yashima Nishimachi was once called Nishigata Motomura, the villagers who belonged to Kita-go, Yamada-gun, Sanuki Province were the sons of Yasaka Shrine, the hometown of Kita-mura. According to "Zen Sanshi", there is the following legend about this Yasaka Shrine. In August of the 6th year of Jōhei (937), a floating raft with jars drifted from the sea and came to the village of Irie (Kita's old palace). The villagers confusedly reported to the government, but that night, a demon-like head with horns appeared in the villagers' dreams, saying, "If you can worship me, all illnesses will be cured. Besides, I will be able to live longer. " The next day the villagers gathered to discuss the dream, but they all said the same thing. We consulted there and built a shrine, and set the day when the float raft arrived as a national holiday. The place where it appeared is called Kagemukai, and it still remains in the rice fields. Perhaps it was built by the villagers at this time, and at the Gozu Tenno Shrine, later people came to call it Yasaka Shrine. It is also said that Gozu Tenno was the guardian deity of Jetavana and was reborn as Susanoo Hayasu when he came to Japan. To go to Yasaka Shrine in Kita Village, the priest of Nishigata Motomura, there were two major rivers, Kasugagawa and Shinkawa, and I often couldn't visit because of the flood. The origin of Yasaka Shrine in Yashima is that the villagers consulted and dedicated the spirit to this area of ​​Nishigata Motomura Hamahata and founded our company. From the time of the solicitation from Kita Village to the Meiji Restoration, our company was called "Tennohan" and was worshiped by the villagers. It is designated as a Shinsen heihaku donation shrine on the 24th of the month. ]
