牛頭天王御来現当時の情景から「早苗の森」や「神田」の呼称となる。
一説には、上畠の田に隕石があって
この石に「素戔嗚尊/すさのおのみこと」が
降りて来られたので「神田」と呼ばれるようになったとも言われています。
社殿は１５７９年に
織田信長の有岡城主荒木村重攻略の兵火にかかり
社殿、記録等すべて焼失しました。
1610年に池田光重の子、他紋丸によって再建された本殿が
桃山時代の様式を残しているとして国の重要文化財に指定されています。
透塀欄間二十四孝が市指定重要文化財、
元禄～宝暦年間の宮大工「匠」が掘った貴重な欄間です。
「神紋」の「五葉木瓜」の紋は織田家の紋ですが
神社はこの紋に買えて織田軍からの被害を防いだと言われています。
この他「神輿」「木造狛犬」の宝物があります。
神田祭りで見ることができるそうです。
本殿右奥に末社８社が祀られています。

The crest of "Goyogi Gourd" of "Kamimon" is the crest of the Oda clan.
It is said that the shrine could be bought for this crest to prevent damage from the Oda army.
In addition, there are treasures of "portable shrine" and "wooden guardian dog".
You can see it at the Kanda Festival.

境内にはイチョウや紅葉の木が植えており大変綺麗でした。神社自体も立派で素晴らしかったです。
