★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 名古屋で美味しい鰻といえばこちらの名前が出る老舗の鰻屋さん。御座敷定食を注文すると個室が使えるのでそちらにしました。ひつまぶしのうなぎがパリッと香ばしく中はふんわりで甘辛なタレが美味しい。お出汁があんかけなのが珍しかった。満足度高い鰻屋さんでした？
 Speaking of delicious eels in Nagoya, this is a long-established eel shop that has this name. If you order the Ozashiki set meal, you can use a private room, so I chose that. The eel of Hitsumabushi is crispy and the inside is fluffy and the sweet and spicy sauce is delicious. It was unusual for the soup stock to be ankake. Was it a highly satisfying eel shop?

案内のおばちゃんのなんて事ない声掛けが心地良かったりします。
そしてなんと言ってもお庭が見事。
豊かな気持ちで食事が出来ます。
It's a long-established sense of stability.
I feel comfortable talking to the guide's aunt.
And after all, the garden is wonderful.
You can eat with a rich feeling.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This has to be one of the best Unagi places in Japan. I had the standard Unagi Don (うなぎ丼) at lunch on a public holiday. It was a little crowded even at 1:30PM. We needed to wait for only 15 minutes. The portions are on the small size and the price is a little on the high side. However, you will not find a better taste. It is absolutely worth the extra effort to get there and to indulge yourself. The flavors are rich and sensual at the same time. The Unagi is char grilled the traditional way and has a very deep smokey charcoal flavor. The accompanying sauce is an enhancer, not a distraction. Although I would have liked a little more sauce over the rice. For most, it should be perfection.
The place is easy to get to via public transportation. The #1 bus from Nagoya Station stops directly out front. The #2 from Sakae stops around the corner. Inside you will find a very old looking, yet well kept traditional Japanese restaurant. There are tables and tatami map seating.
As of this review timing, they are about to celebrate their 100th year in business. There's a reason they have been in business for 100 years. Go visit, eat and walk away knowing you have encountered one of the best Unagi experiences of a life time.
