★ ★ ★ ★ ★ イルカショーすごく頑張っていると思う。乗り物のフリーパスか、もう少し安ければもっと行きます。子供連れですとどうしても巡回コースに遊園地？があり、お金を使ってしまいます。これでは水族館には行きたいのになかなか行けない

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1957年5月10日に神戸市立須磨水族館として開園（1968年までは交通局の所管だった）。1987年、旧施設に代わり現在の建物施設が開業、同時に現在の名称になった。現在の施設は後に多く誕生する大型水族館の嚆矢となった。
1987年に記録した年間入場者数240万人は、当時の日本記録である（葛西臨海水族園1990年：355万人、海遊館1991年：450万人）。
2008年1月10日から2月29日の間、サメやウミガメ等が泳ぐ「波の大水槽」の前にこたつ3卓を設置､暖をとりながら鑑賞するという、ユニークなサービスを行った
長崎大学水産学部のある教授の協力により、当水族館でマングローブキリフィッシュ（脊椎動物で唯一自家受精をする魚）を展示している。また、各地から大学生のインターンシップもよく受け入れている。
平成21年度までは財団法人神戸国際観光コンベンション協会が管理運営を行っていたが、指定管理者制度の導入により管理者の公募が行われ、平成22年度から4年間の指定管理者としてウエスコ・名鉄インプレス・アクアート特定業務共同事業体が選定された。園長を公募し、亀崎直樹が選ばれた。平成25年に前述3社と神戸国際観光コンベンション協会が共同で新たな共同事業体を設立し、現在運営を行っている。
Opened as the Kobe City Suma Aquarium on May 10, 1957 (it was under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Bureau until 1968). In 1987, the current building facility opened in place of the old facility, and at the same time became the current name. The current facility became the wing of a large aquarium that was born later.
The 2.4 million annual visitors recorded in 1987 are the records of Japan at that time (Kasai Rinkai Aquarium 1990: 3.55 million, Kaiyukan 1991: 4.5 million).
From January 10th to February 29th, 2008, a unique service was set up in which three kotatsu tables were set up in front of the “Large Tank of Waves” where sharks and sea turtles swim, allowing them to watch while warming up.
With the cooperation of a professor from the Faculty of Fisheries, Nagasaki University, the Mangrove Kilifish (the only vertebrate fish that is self-fertilized) is exhibited at this aquarium. They also accept university student internships from various locations.
Until 2009, the Kobe International Tourism and Convention Association managed and operated, but the recruitment of managers was conducted through the introduction of the designated manager system, and as a designated manager for four years from 2010, Wesco and Meitetsu Impress Aquaart specific business consortium was selected. The director was recruited and Naoki Kamezaki was selected. In 2013, the aforementioned three companies and the Kobe International Tourism and Convention Association jointly established a new joint venture that is currently in operation.

休日はファミリーで混みあっていますが、水族館も遊園地も大人でも楽しめます。
特にイルカショーは力を入れて頑張っているんだろうなと感じられ見ごたえがありました！

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 建て替えの話もありますが、スマスイはイルカライブあり餌やり体験などもあって、子供連れてとても賑わっていました。楽しい時間が過ごせます
