おそらくシイの巨樹としては最も北にあると思われる樹です。
樹高はありませんが、シイとしては全国でも指折りの幹周と、長命の巨樹が持つ風格が強く感じられる巨樹です。
さらに門の正面にあるという周囲の景色との調和もとても良いと感じました。
また、同敷地内のお墓の方にもう一本シイの巨樹があり、コチラも樹冠が半円状に生き生きとした素晴らしい樹でした。
