I learned about Haruhime at the nearby Okyuizu Shrine, but I didn't know the details. Then, when I got to know this Uneme Shrine, the following was written on the signboard, and I was able to know the outline.
Origin of Azumi Ryojo (Spring Princess)
Approximately 1300 years ago, Mutsu Kuni Asaka no Sato (sato) was delinquent in annual tribute after several years of drought. From the capital of Nara, King Katsuragi (later Minister of the Left Tachibana no Moroe) was escorted to this area as an azechi, and while observing the situation in the village, the villagers complained about the situation and held a grand feast to entertain the king. I was hospitable, but the king was only in a bad mood. Therefore, Kokushi devised a plan and summoned Haruhime, who has a beautiful eyebrows. In the full seat, Haruhime stepped forward in front of the king to save the villagers, poured fresh water into the sake cup, and said, "Azumiyama, even the shadow of the mountain well, without thinking about the shallow heart" (Manyoshu). Dedicated to. The king, who excels in Japanese poetry, is pleased and relieved of his anger, saying, "I see the flowers of the city now." I promised. The villagers thanked the king and saw him off to the Sasawara River. Haruhime had a husband named Jiro, but he was forced to part with him to save the plight of Murasato. Haruhime, who had received the emperor's dragon love, was only soliciting thoughts for Jiro and Satoto. On the night of the harvest moon when a moon-viewing party was held on the shore of Sarusawa Pond, I left the banquet and put on a willow tree to make it look like I was thrown into the pond, aiming for Azumi no Sato. It was. Haruhime, who was exhausted both physically and mentally and finally arrived at the village, was pessimistic about Jiro's death, and the warmth of the villagers could not be met, so she put on a garment on the branch of the cherry blossoms at the end of "Yamanoi Shimizu". It is said that he hung himself in Shimizu and died. It is said that the villagers mourned this and buried it in the terrain mountain. Eventually, spring came and the pretty light purple flowers, Hanakatsumi, bloomed all over Shimizu. It is said that the eternal love of the two was united by Shimizu and became this flower.
