During the pandemic this town was silent. So sad.

If you have the chance, definitely visit this old town. Make sure you have some cash on you because there is a lot of well, handmade goods you can buy. I really want to go back sometime in the future!

I love the old juku post towns. There are a few really nice shops but not enough for the sprawling neighborhood. A few historically significant buildings have informative plaques.

A calm and peaceful street with historical wooden house. There are some historical Washi shops around.

If you are into pre-Edo and Edo architecture, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, it is an enjoyable walk around, looking at shops and their wares. A historical area worth the effort to go visit.

Mino city in Gifu prefecture. Not far away from Nagoya. It is the center of Washi, Japanese handmade paper. If you like old japanese houses, streets, art -this is the place for you. Check the time of lantern festival. It is beautiful scenery in the evening. Even if you want to buy originally made in Japan souvenir- come here. Smell of the old shops, handmade things -knowledge passed from generation to generation. We were on 'Knife festival' in Seki, Gifu prefecture (it is every first weekend in october) it was very hot day(last year too), and we wanted to refresh ourself on the river. We took this way and it was the best choice. So if you go to Seki for the festival, in the evening should come here and see the lights! (if you want to see both festivals, first Seki, then Mino in the evening) , but any time of year should visit this place.

Beautiful area to walk around in. Not only are there Udatsu ornamental rooftops, but there are quite many shops in the area as well. Be very careful, because you will spend a lot of money. The articles are not overpriced. But they are almost exclusively hand-made, and you can buy them nowhere but in Mino. There are beautiful paper items, like fans, notebooks, covers and all sorts of things, there is Sake, Japanese specialties, even Western-style confectionery, as well as Japanese confectionery, which looks similar to Western, but tastes much different. Come to Mino, lose yourself in the town center. Then go to the lookout building for a great view over the city and its surroundings.
