日蓮宗のお寺です。県道142三ツ谷谷田線の八王子神社の鳥居前に入口があります。通猛寺は、玉澤妙法華寺の第１７世日亮上人（江戸時代初期）が創立したが、一時空き寺となった。１６７８年春、明石の大名行列を横切りつかまってしまった６歳の娘を助けるために、明石の大名と同格の本山玉澤妙法華寺の第２４代貫首　通猛院日迅上人が助命を乞いたが受け入れられず、娘は手打ちになった。（三島市東本町１丁目にある言成地蔵の話）これを期に、日迅上人は玉澤妙法華寺の貫首を退き、当所に隠居されました。後に日演上人が、当寺を通猛寺と称したのがこの寺の始まりだそうです。

It is a temple of the Nichiren sect. There is an entrance in front of the torii of Hachioji Shrine on the prefectural road 142 Mitsuya Yata Line. Tsumo-ji Temple was founded by the 17th Nippo Shonin (early Edo period) of Tamazawa Myohoka-ji Temple, but it became a temporary vacant temple. In the spring of 1678, in order to help a 6-year-old daughter who had crossed the Daimyo procession in Akashi, the 24th head of the temple, Tamazawa Myohokkeji, who has the same rank as the Daimyo in Akashi Unacceptable, the daughter was hand-made. (The story of Iinarijizo in 1-chome, Higashihoncho, Mishima City) During this period, Nisshin Shonin retired from the head of Tamazawa Myohokaji Temple and retired to our office. It is said that the beginning of this temple was later called Tsumo-ji by the Japanese performers.
