北側の太い道路側入口付近に、大東亜戦争前に企画された、夢の弾丸列車計画のために用地買収された痕跡を示す杭が残されている。これは、東京から下関、さらに海底トンネルで対馬海峡を渡り、北京までを連絡する予定であったそうな。戦争がなければ、この辺も大分様相が変わっていたことと思われる。
