★ ★ ★ ★ ★ かつてこの公園付近に、弦巻川の源流となる丸池と呼ばれる湧水池がありました。丸池一帯は大正時代には成蹊学園敷地となり池は整備されて水泳に使われていたそうです。公園内には成蹊学園発祥の地の碑と池袋地名ゆかりの記念碑があります。
 There used to be a spring pond called Maruike, which is the source of the Genmaki River, near this park. In the Taisho era, the Maruike area became the site of Seikei Gakuen, and the pond was maintained and used for swimming. In the park, there is a monument of the birthplace of Seikei Gakuen and a monument related to the name of Ikebukuro.
