★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 小さいですが源為義と息子の鎮西八郎為朝を祀る社です。為義も為朝も共に保元の乱の時に崇徳上皇方に付いた人です。白峯神宮に崇徳上皇が祀られたので、境内に一緒に二人も祀られたということでしょうか？
為朝は鎧を着た武者を射ぬいてしまうほどの強弓の使い手でした。そのため武道の神様として祀られているのでしょう。その超人的な戦いぶりは『保元物語』に余すところなく描かれていますが呉座勇一さんによれば、その多くは創作だろうとのことです。
かつて大河ドラマ「平清盛」で保元の乱も描かれていました。当然、為朝も登場していましたが『保元物語』では為朝は十八九と書かれているのですが、あのドラマではとてもそのようには見えませんでした（笑）。
それはともかく、保元の乱の後、為朝は潜伏先で捕らえられ、父の為義は処刑されますが、為朝は武勇を惜しまれて二度と弓が引けないように腕の筋を切られて伊豆大島に流罪になりました。
