★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 大崎駅からゲートシティを通って目黒川に出会う所に架かる橋です。橋を渡ると大規模マンション群があり、御殿山の高級住宅地へとつながります。
橋の説明板によれば、1915年にこの地に建設された森永製菓の工場従業員のために森永製菓が架けた橋だそうです。この当時は目黒川沿いの大崎周辺には多くの工場が建設され、煙突が立ち並び、設備機械の音が街全体に響く堂々たる工業地帯として栄えたそうです。
森永製菓の工場は無くなり、今はこの辺りどこにも嘗ての工業地帯の面影はありませんが、橋は一世紀以上経って尚大いに役立っています。目黒川沿いは桜の名所が多いですが、この橋からの桜の眺めも素晴らしいです。
2020年にはコロナウイルス対策に尽力する医療従事者へ感謝とエールを送るためのブルーライトアップがこの橋でも実施されました。
It is a bridge over the place where you meet the Meguro River from Osaki Station through Gate City. Crossing the bridge, you will find a group of large-scale condominiums leading to a high-class residential area in Gotenyama.
According to the explanation board of the bridge, it is a bridge built by Morinaga & Co. for the employees of the Morinaga & Co. factory built in 1915. At that time, many factories were built around Osaki along the Meguro River, chimneys lined up, and the sound of equipment and machinery echoed throughout the city, prospering as a majestic industrial area.
The Morinaga & Co. factory has disappeared, and although there is no sign of an industrial area around here, the bridge is still very useful after more than a century. There are many cherry blossom viewing spots along the Meguro River, but the view of the cherry blossoms from this bridge is also wonderful.
In 2020, a blue light-up was also held at this bridge to thank and ale medical professionals who are committed to combating coronavirus.
