★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Iconic tourist attraction in Tokoname where is one of Japan's six most important ancient kiln towns and the birthplace of lucky cat. This giant statue measuring 3.6m by 6.3m is considered the guardian cat overlooking the city. In 2008 a contest was held to determine its name. Tokonyan chosen from 1400 suggestions became its official name. There were many smaller lucky cats displayed along the footpath under this statue. Pay a visit and they were cute and interesting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great sculpture of maneki neko that you can see from the train when you arrive at Tokoname station. Little tips : if you reserve a sit in the first car of the train (additional fees of about 360yen) you'll have a beautiful sight on Tokonyan when you arrive besides having an amazing sight on the lands and cities you'll cross until there !
