It is a temple of the Soto sect in Kawai, Yonezawa, and is the 23rd temple of the Okitama 33 Kannon Sacred Ground. It is said that it was founded in 1544 when Yoshinao Satsuki summoned Ichika Sect Yamato Osho and opened the mountain.
