宇多天皇ですよ… 桓武天皇のひ孫で、醍醐天皇の父、村上天皇の祖父にあたる人で 宇多源氏の祖先でもあります。亀岡は源氏の里なんですが
ここに祀られてるという事は 宇多源氏系だったのかも… この辺りは詳しくないので 詳しい人よろしく 。仁和寺を完成させたことでも有名で 出家して寛平法皇・亭子院（ていじのいん）となられました。
菅原道真公の後見人だったのですが 仏教に高じるあまり 道真公への支援が薄くなって 菅原道真が左遷された事も有名かも…
そうそう…ペットの黒猫を溺愛してました。宇多天皇の日記『宇多天皇御記』の猫に関する逸話は 猫好きには有名です。残念ながら猫の塚はありませんでした…

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 十数年前の写真を見ると神社が木々に囲まれ、山陰街道を往き来する人々を安堵させたと思われる。2018年の台風で境内の木々が倒れ、なんともお痛わしい姿に。全国の佐々木姓の皆様、近江の沙々貴神社も大変ですがこちらもどうかよろしく。
