民家が多く建っているので、中まで入り辛い。
遺構がかなり残っているので、もう少し整備して欲しい。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 果物の木々が綺麗に並ぶ入口に石毋田城跡の説明する看板が建っています。その看板には下記のことが書かれています。

石毋田城は、中世伊達家の重臣石母田氏の居城で、本郭と家中屋敷が置かれた外郭からなる「総構」の縄張りによった複郭式の平城である。
築城の時期は明らかでないが、奥州守護伊達稙宗が、その子晴宗と争った天文の乱(1542～1548)に際し、この城は稙宗方の本拠となり、晴宗方と激しい攻防戦が展開された。天正18年(1580)豊臣秀吉の奥州仕置により廃城となり城主石母田景顆は宮城県伊具郡高倉の荒山城に移った。
城の遺構としては、本郭と外郭西部の土塁や、内堀などがよく保存されており、福島県内における戦国期の代表的な城跡として、貴重なものである。

At the entrance where the fruit trees are lined up neatly, there is a sign that explains the remains of Ishigita Castle. The following is written on the signboard.

___ Ishigita Castle is the residence of Mr. Shigeomi Ishimada of the Date family of the Middle Ages, and is a double-story type flat castle with a territory of the "overall structure" consisting of the main enclosure and the outer enclosure where the house Nakayashiki is located.
Although the time of construction of the castle is not clear, when Oshu Shugo Date Sadaune competed with his son Harumune for the astronomical turmoil (1542 to 1548), this castle became the headquarters of Sadakata, and a violent battle was launched with him. In 1580, the castle was abandoned by Hideyoshi Toyotomi's Oshu punishment.
As the remains of the castle, the earthworks and the inner moat in the western part of the main and outer regions are well preserved, and it is valuable as a typical castle site during the Warring States period in Fukushima Prefecture.
