平成の終わり頃、久し振りに通り掛かった玉出本通商店街のアーケードは、昼間でも薄暗く、かつての賑わっていた商店街とは、似ても似つかぬ姿でした。
特に商店街の西の入口にあった協和銀行の場所がパチンコ店に変わっていたのが、商店街の衰退を如実に物語っているようでした。
