★ ★ ★ ★ ★ この古墳は、昭和46年に高舘山の中腹（標高124ｍ付近）の熊野那智神社への表参道沿いから発見された、前方後方墳です。
中世から近世にかけて、高舘城の平場の一部として利用されており、かなり変形していますが、全長約60ｍの比較的大型の古墳です。出土遺物もなく、地形測量以外の詳細な調査は行われていませんが、山頂墳の前方後方墳とすれば、立地状況や墳丘の形などから、名取市内はもとより、仙台平野内でも最も古い時期の古墳の一つではな いかと見られています。
This burial mound is a front-back burial mound discovered in 1971 along the Omotesando road to Kumano Nachi Shrine on the hillside of Mt. Takadate (altitude 124m).
From the Middle Ages to the early modern period, it was used as a part of the flat ground of Takatate Castle, and although it is considerably deformed, it is a relatively large tumulus with a total length of about 60 m. There are no excavated relics, and detailed surveys other than topographic surveys have not been conducted, but the front and rear burial mounds of the summit burial mound are the most in the Sendai plain as well as in Natori city due to the location and shape of the burial mound. It is believed to be one of the old burial mounds.
