館十三代千田経氏が貞和元（１３４５）郷土守護神として郷土安泰を祈願し、菅原道真公を奉斎した。
文明の火災により焼失。文明二年（１４７０）郷土守護神として菅原神社を再建した。宝暦十三年（１８７１）以来秋成村菅原神社として奉祀し、明治三十三年（１９００）十月、無格社に昇格、大正十一年（１９２２）村社菅原神社に昇格す。
