★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For a steak house the price is very reasonable, their dishes were all very good with a little plus of herbs or spices on it. Good ambiance. I was surprised it wasn't crowded.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 450 gram steak. At this price range you know what you are paying for. Any delusions of tender meats or melt in your mouth concepts are out the window. You paid for volume and volume is what you get. For 1650 yen and comes with rice and a small soup you are really getting a steal in Shinjuku in terms of beef. That being said 20-25% of the meat consists of fat and gristle so take what you will with that. It is good though in a nice budget sort of way. This is for those times where you just want beef and hang the quality and whatnot. Would recommend.

Steak is tasty and in quantity, and there is a great choice of sauce.
You’ll definitely smell steak when you come out, as in every steak house.
Service is quick and prices are inexpensive but the place is quite crowded, so you might have to wait ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you’re after tasty and affordable USDA prime steak, then Steak Max is the place for you. I just wish they improve the presentation of the food. What we got was different from the one in the picture. My steak kind of looked like a jumbo deep-fried pork intestine. This came as a shock since restaurants in Japan are known for serving exactly what is displayed outside near their entrance or on their menu.
