本堂に、皇女和宮御降嫁時に使用された駕籠が所蔵されている。
鳥羽伏見の戦いでの旧幕府軍敗北の後、秘密裏に大阪城を退去し江戸へ帰った徳川慶喜は、図らずも朝敵となってしまった自らの朝廷への恭順を斡旋してもらう為、江戸城大奥にて和宮(静寛院宮)と面会しているが、当初面会を断られている。それは、当時慶喜は、よほど急いでいたのか、大阪城陣中での英雄ナポレオン一世を彷彿とさせるような仏式軍服(洋装)を着用したまま江戸城に入城したのだが、その様子を耳にした静寛院宮が、江戸城でのしきたりに従ったのか、兄(孝明天皇)が大の異人嫌いだったのが影響したのか、嫌悪感を抱いて追い返したとされている。その後慶喜は、和服に着替え、また、天璋院篤姫のとりなしもあって、なんとか無事に面会が叶ったのだという。
