岡	岡田拓宗 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ いろいろ言われているが自分的にはしっかり整備されたいい城跡だという印象。箱物はないが地形が特にいい。その地形のせいか、面した道はグネグネ曲がっていて、また起伏もあるため、駐車するところは考えるべき。茨城の面白いところで、関東平野の北端であり、また県内ところどころにみられるように浦が多くあったらしく、この城もそれを利用していたらしい。常陸国の北の雄佐竹氏と名門常陸江戸氏に挟まれた大掾氏は戦国後期の混乱の世を生き延びられなかったようであるが、山支城でこの規模の城を持てていたことからなかなかの力はあったのではないかと思う。（なお佐竹氏の進行にはこの城は役不足だったようであるが）北の佐竹氏に対する防衛の城であったと思われ、北から三の廓、二の廓、本廓となっている。三の廓は木がなければ下の平地を見渡せるようになっており、ここにのろしがあったらしい。山に登るような装備がなくても、土の城を肌で見て感じ取れるところなので、そういった群雄割拠の時代の武骨な城跡が好きという方にはお勧め。道は土で、坂になっているところがあり、雨の後だと滑りやすくなるのでそこだけ注意してほしい。 Many people say that it is a nice castle site that is well maintained for me.
