★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 源頼朝に従って功績を挙げた千葉常胤の三男が武石三郎胤盛で、彼の居城がこの武石城であったという。武石氏は４代ほどは、この武石の地にいたようだが、後には奥州に渡ってそこで勢力を広げている。鎌倉時代の居館の跡なので、堀のような大規模な構築物をもたない館だったのではないかとも思われる。
 It is said that the third son of Tsunetane Chiba, who made achievements according to Minamoto no Yoritomo, was Saburo Takeishi, and his residence was this castle. Mr. Takeishi seems to have been in this land of Takeishi for about four generations, but later he moved to Oshu and expanded his power there. Since it is the site of the residence of the Kamakura period, it seems that it was a building without a large-scale structure like a moat.
