★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 学校内に、昭和40年に発掘調査された、縄文時代中期の大集落が有ったので、校門のすぐ後ろに「初山天台遺跡」看板が建てられている。
竪穴住居跡が21か所で発見された。勝坂式土器とあわせて、新潟県姫川のヒスイも出土した。周辺は標高６０ｍ前後の高地にあり、鷺沼から升形山に向かう鎌倉街道が通過していたと考えられる。（宮前区歴史ガイドより）
 There was a large settlement in the school in the middle of the Jomon period, which was excavated in 1965, so a signboard for "Hatsuyama Tendai Ruins" is built just behind the school gate.
Remains of pit dwellings were found in 21 places. Along with the Katsusaka-style pottery, jade from Himegawa, Niigata Prefecture was also excavated. The surrounding area is located in a highland at an altitude of about 60 m, and it is probable that the Kamakura Kaido from Saginuma to Mt. Masugata had passed. (From Miyamae Ward History Guide)
