★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 旧中山道は永福寺の旭観音堂のすぐ東で四沢川にさしかかります。その川沿いに北に向かって山の中腹に登る小径があって、小径の先に小坂田池があります。
小坂田池は、江戸時代の前期（1640年頃）に松本藩によって灌漑用水として山腹斜面に構築されました。塩尻宿とその近辺の田畑は、主に田川や四沢川から引いた用水でまかなわれていますから、この池の水は池堤の真下の金井地区の灌漑に用いられたものでしょう。
ところが、この溜め池は建造の翌年に大きく決壊して、直下の金井村の田地を押し流してしまいました。
当時、松本藩は幕府から、塩尻峠や塩尻宿をふくむ中山道の普請を命じられていたうえに、松本城の藩庁としての整備などで財政逼迫状態でした。そこで、決壊した池は二十数年も放置されていました。
ようやく1665年になって池を修復し堅固に築堤し直しました。その頃には塩尻宿の商工業が力強く成長していましたし、灌漑用水が確保できたことから金井地区の稲作も発展して、藩の税収が増えていく条件が生まれました。
The old Nakasendo is just east of Asahi Kannon-do at Eifukuji Temple and reaches the Yosawa River. Along the river, there is a small diameter that climbs to the north on the mountainside, and Kosakada Pond is at the end of the small diameter.
Kosakada Pond was constructed on the hillside slope as irrigation water by the Matsumoto Domain in the early Edo period (around 1640). Shiojiri-shuku and the fields in the vicinity are mainly covered by irrigation water drawn from the Tagawa and Yosawa rivers, so the water in this pond was probably used for irrigation in the Kanai area just below the pond bank.
However, the pond broke down the year after its construction and washed away the rice fields of Kanai Village directly below.
At that time, the Matsumoto clan was ordered by the shogunate to build a Nakasendo road including Shiojiri Pass and Shiojiri-shuku, and was in a state of financial tightness due to the maintenance of Matsumoto Castle as a clan office. There, the collapsed pond was left unattended for more than 20 years.
Finally, in 1665, the pond was restored and rebuilt firmly. At that time, the commerce and industry of Shiojiri-shuku was growing strongly, and the availability of irrigation water led to the development of rice cultivation in the Kanai area, creating a condition for the clan's tax revenue to increase.

しばらく前に池の水を全て抜いて護岸工事をしていました。
なので現場はブラックバスをはじめとする魚釣りが成立する状態ではないと思われます。
