どんな神様がまつられているのか、説明する看板などはなかったようですが、天照大神がまつられているようですね。

隣接していた五郎権現社とともに下作延村の鎮守社で、明治末年の神社合祀令により、村内の五郎権現社、稲荷社、牛頭天王社を合祀して神明神社と称しました。天照大御神・素盞嗚尊・御霊神がまつられています。
本殿に、神明社・牛頭天王社・五郎社（御霊社）、末社として稲荷社が本殿の左後方に、御嶽社が本殿の右側にあります。また、本殿に向って右奥に手水鉢が二つあり、一方は、江戸時代〔1849年〕奉納のもの、もう一方は昭和五年三月九日午ノ日」とあり、昭和初期のものです。その他、明治6年の青面金剛庚申塔があります。
