★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 南北線らしい駅構内のデザインは開業当時 先進的であったと考えられますが、今も色褪せず美しく保たれています。志茂文庫という持ち寄りの文庫が改札内にあり、文学作品から大学入試の参考書まで多種多様です。
The design of the station yard, which is typical of the Namboku Line, is thought to have been advanced at the time of its opening, but it is still beautifully maintained without fading. There is a library called Shimo Bunko inside the ticket gate, which has a wide variety of books, from literary works to reference books for university entrance exams.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 南北線の18番目の駅ですね。赤羽岩淵を過ぎて更に進むと、埼玉高速鉄道に接続(そのまま埼玉高速鉄道)します。
駅構内にはトイレと証明写真コーナーが設置されており、コンビニ(ローソン)もあります。
改札を出て地上に上がると、ローソン・ミニストップやジョナサンがあり、街並み的には民家が多くほぼ住宅地の印象です。小さな工場があったり、昭和風の景色も残っています。
JR赤羽駅までは歩くと15分くらい、北本通りを国際タクシー(KM)方面に進むと赤羽警察署があります。
It's the 18th station on the Namboku line. After passing Akabane Iwabuchi, you will be connected to Saitama Kosoku Railway (Saitama Kosoku Railway as it is).
There is a toilet and ID photo corner inside the station, and there is also a convenience store (Lawson).
When you exit the ticket gate and go up to the ground, you will find Lawson Ministop and Jonathan, and there are many private houses in the cityscape, which gives the impression of a residential area. There is a small factory, and the Showa-style scenery remains.
It takes about 15 minutes to walk to JR Akabane Station, and if you follow Kitahon-dori towards the International Taxi (KM), you will find the Akabane Police Station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 東京都北区志茂２丁目に位置する、東京メトロ南北線の駅です。JR赤羽駅の東側約１km程離れています。北本通りの真下に駅の入口があります。1991年（平成３年）に開業した。
駅名の由来は、1932年（昭和７年）に王子区志茂町成立の際、大字下の小字志茂から採用された。この字志茂も元は「下」と書かれ、明治に好字二字化されたものであるが、同じく下村の字「上」と対を成している。下村の名称はこの小字上・下とは異なり、由来は荒川の渡し場があった岩淵宿の下流にあった事です。
当駅周辺には、北区立なでしこ小学校や北運動公園・警視庁赤羽警察署などがあります。１日の乗降客数も約１万人程度と少なく、東京メトロ全駅の中では西ケ原駅（南北線）・桜田門駅（有楽町線）に次いで３番目に少ない駅であります。
地上～改札階、ホーム～改札階のエレベーターは日立製が使用されています。以前は油圧式でしたが、2015年（平成27年）に更新された。ホームは地下２階です。
It is a station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line, located in Shimo 2-chome, Kita-ku, Tokyo. It is about 1km away from the east side of JR Akabane Station. The entrance to the station is just below Kitahon-dori. It opened in 1991 (Heisei 3).
The origin of the station name was adopted from the small character Shimo under the large character when Shimo Town, Oji-ku was established in 1932 (Showa 7). This character Shimo was originally written as "lower" and was converted into two characters in the Meiji era, but it is also paired with the character "upper" in Shimomura. The name of Shimomura is different from this small letter above and below, and the origin is that it was located downstream of Iwabuchi-juku, where the Arakawa ferry was located.
Around this station, there are Kita Ward Nadeshiko Elementary School, Kita Sports Park, and Akabane Police Department of the Metropolitan Police Department. The number of passengers a day is as small as about 10,000, and it is the third smallest station among all Tokyo Metro stations after Nishigahara Station (Nanboku Line) and Sakuradamon Station (Yurakucho Line).
Hitachi elevators are used on the ground floor to the ticket gate floor and from the platform to the ticket gate floor. Previously it was hydraulic, but it was updated in 2015 (Heisei 27). The home is on the second basement floor.
