I have been terrified of getting my hair cut in Japan for over 8 years now. Due to COVID and not being able to go back home to get it done, I decided to bite the bullet and search for a hair salon that has experience cutting curly hair. Afrodita was at the top and after checking Instagram and reviews, I went in myself. Absolutely no regrets. Came out with a gorgeous haircut!! The staff was super friendly and accommodating as well. Thank you!

I got my hair done in this salon and I did the best decision in my life! I got really bad hair, frizzy and dead. I have my hair straightened and now it looks really amazing even after weeks. The stylist really knows what she does and the other staffs were really nice too. They made me really comfortable during the process and to note they're good in English too! I would really recommend this salon and will definitely come back. Thank you for taking a good care on my hair!

2 stars because its very expensive. The service they've done to me are perm and color. Price is way too much compared to all salons that i went to. Hair was still frizzy. Maybe because they did a beach wave hairstyle to me. Im just expecting my hair to be smoother though. On the positive note, i love the color, they achieved the beach wave look..They are nice and yes they do speak english fluently.

Staff can speak English well. They took pictures of your hair before and after the service, and show it to you the before and after. I thought that was an unique experience. Overall, it is not bad salon in Yokohama.

Well, I asked for a straight cut it was merely OK, but unnecessarily expensive. I guess the expense is due to lack of salons with English speaking staff in other hair salons (at least at that time). I will not go again because the owner stylist was rude towards young workers and I sensed a tense forced kindness overall. It seems like the quality of service depends on your country's economic power and your nativeness level of English, I guess if you are blond whitish you will be treated with a better aired pretense. Edit: I got haircuts several times in central Tokyo even in big famous salons, cut, with shampoo, massage and blow dry plus professionalism, it costs around ¥5000+something. If you are new to a place it is normal to be confused at first even if you are a good observer. It may take time to read the air and understand subtle signs in behavior in a different culture, however it is your full right to criticize a service you paid for and later realized was actually a bad one. You don't have to accept irrelevant justifications to your experience just because someone is uncomfortable with your honest feedback, it is what it is. Also it is very unkind and outdated to feel superior over others or discriminate according to status, appearance/country etc.

Mixed emotions! The service was very nice but the price was ridiculously expensive. Typical Salon: Hair cut 4,000-5,000 yen Straight Perm 12,000 yen Total: 18,000 yen (expensive but worth it) Afrodita Hair cut 8,000 Straight Perm 18,000 + an additional 4,000 yen Total: 30,000 yen (perhaps unnecessarily expensive) *PERM* Their “straight perm” on their website (ranging from 11,000 and up) “doesn’t actually straighten your hair” (their words not mine). They insisted on me getting the “Thermal Hair Straightening” for 38,000 yen. Their “Thermal Hair Straightening” is what any salon in Japan will give you for around 12,000 yen. (The word thermal just means that they will apply heat with a straighter. They DO NOT do this in their “straightening perm” so that is important if it is your first one.) Maybe their products are more expensive but the results are the same—straight hair. They did do the straight perm on ALL of my hair which was uncommon for me (their salons just do the bit that grew out). This resulted in my texture being much more even and I am very happy with it! I can tell they really cared about my satisfaction and it wasn’t all about the extra money so I was happy. This procedure will strip your curls but you won’t end up with “straight” hair. I am sure the results of their thermal straightening perm are fantastic but for around 40,000 yen that is just too much when you can get close to the same for around 12,000. *CUT* Again, the price! My hair is long but I didn’t change my hair style or length very much. I added a few more layers and she barely touched my self-cut bangs. The website says 6,000-8,000 yen for a cut but I am not sure how their price it because, again, this was a nothing-special cut. *RESULT* They styled my hair a bit after the cut which I really appreciated! After I get a hair cut, I expect to be able to go about my day looking nice and I was able to with them! I am really happy with the result but a bit disappointed with them not straightening my hair using the perm—in the 8 that I have had this is ALWAYS done. They charged me an extra 4,000 to do my bangs and front but even then it is not as straight as my past ones have been. *STAFF* Excellent English so if money is of no object go for it! Sometimes speaks direct Japanese in the background, for example she said what I wanted done was a waste of money but to her credit she said it again to my face in English. :D English is a bit direct but this is common with non-native speakers. I am also used to Japan so maybe I am just soft. I wouldn’t take it personally. They really do care about your satisfaction. I missed the おもてなし feeling you get in typical salons—greetings, massages and such. But maybe that’s the price we pay for an English salon! *ATMOSPHERE* For the prices, I expected the place to be better kept. The pictures on the site look nice but the salon has a lot of things around. The staff also just wore casual clothes—I guess I am used to the trendy hair salon people in Japanese salons. Of course, none of this affected my results but I may have felt better about the prices if it was a real “experience”. It was comfy and casual with was nice but again—those prices! *ADVICE* If you are getting a complicated procedure done like crazy colors or a drastic cut—then for sure they are for you! They will guide you and make sure you are satisfied! But be PREPARED. Read the website, be ready to negotiate. They will give you their first estimate—ask WHY? Where is this price coming from? What about my hair makes it cost this much? If you are basic like me, perhaps having a go at a typical one is better! Unless, you got that money! Then go for it. I don’t so I will come back for special procures only. But I really appreciated their service! The head stylist has so much experience and will look out for you! They assistant was so kind and friendly! Definitely not a bad experience! <3

I absolutely loved it! This is the first time a stylist agreed to do gray hair on me and it turned out amazing! I stayed in the salon for about 5 hours in total, since my hair takes a while to bleach, but the staff was super friendly and worked amazing together. Great atmosphere, awesome and talented team! Definitely coming back for touch ups while I’m living in Japan. ❤️❤️❤️

I always get my hair straightened here, they do an excellent job every time, the softest silkiest hair is achieved there, with little to no damage. It’s really amazing! No more frizzy hair, and it is permanent. The hair stylist and staff are friendly and it has a nice relaxing vibe in their salon.
