It is said that Sekiyoan in Mikkamachi was the 17th bill place of the Nishina 33rd bill Kannon sacred place tour, which was established in the latter half of the Edo period. It is unknown what this little hermitage enshrined and what temple it belonged to. This is because most of the temples were destroyed and all the artifacts such as Buddhist statues and documents were lost because the Matsumoto domain made an extreme abolition of Buddha in the Meiji Restoration.
The small diameter that runs beside this hermitage is the Omachi Highway until the end of the Edo period.
It is said that the villages around here are called Mikamachi because the city was opened in sequence around the villages around Omachi-juku during the Edo period, and the city was held here on the third day of every month.
There are still graveyards around Yuhian and Omachi Highway, so there must have been a temple to manage such graveyards. It is probable that Yuhian belonged to the temple. It may have been called Yuhian-an because the setting sun over the Northern Alps looked beautiful on the west-facing slope beside the highway.
