★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 白馬南小学校の脇から南に沢渡村を貫く塩の道もまた、素朴な民衆の「祈りの道」です。スキー場などのリゾートから少し離れていることもあってか、この集落には昔日の街道風景がひときわ強く残されているような気がします。沢渡北原庚申塚石仏群のありようを眺めて、そんな印象を受けました。
杉林の横の小さな草原に並ぶ庚申塔と石仏群の数は15基ほど。これまで観察した千国街道脇にある石仏群史跡としては、最も規模が小さいものです。晩秋の木漏れ日を浴びて、それらは静かに長閑に佇んでいます。
ここの石仏や石塔は、セメントによる補強や補修がほとんど目につきません。おそらく昭和期まで受け継がれたままの状態で保存されてきたのでしょう。私が見るところ、耕地整理や区画整理、道路整備のさいに発掘され移設されたものは、ほとんどないようです。
石仏・石塔の数の少なさは、村落の規模が小さいからかもしれません。
 The salt road that runs from the side of Hakuba Minami Elementary School to the south through Sawatari Village is also a simple people's "prayer road." Perhaps because it is a little far from resorts such as ski resorts, I feel that the scenery of the old roads is remarkably left in this village. Looking at the state of the Sawatari Kitahara Koshinzuka stone Buddha group, I got that impression.
There are about 15 Koshinto and stone Buddha statues lined up in a small grassland next to the cedar forest. It is the smallest stone Buddha statue historic site on the side of the Senkoku Kaido that I have observed so far. Soaked in the sunlight through the trees in late autumn, they are quietly standing in a quiet area.
The stone Buddha statues and stone towers here are hardly reinforced or repaired with cement. Perhaps it was preserved as it was inherited until the Showa period. From my point of view, few have been excavated and relocated during land consolidation, land readjustment, and road maintenance.
The small number of stone Buddhas and stone towers may be due to the small size of the village.
