尚、対岸の大浜公園内に堺南台場跡
の遺構が収容保存されています。

北台場は南北約90m、東西最大約70mの
規模をもつコの字形の土塁(高さ約３m)
をもち、36貫目の臼砲(モルチール砲)を
主砲に大砲８門を備えた本格的なもので
した。明治以降、北台場の敷地は公園地
となり、当初は陸軍省の所轄に属してい
ましたが、のちに堺市の所有となり現在
は大浜北公園の敷地の一部として市民の
憩いの場となっています。
