寺院のところは舗装されています。
舗装されていない駐車場が周辺に幾つかあります。
関東三十六不動霊場第32番です。
当たり前ですが、参拝もせずに御朱印を望まないように注意書きがありました。

岩瀬にある最上寺にも大きな天狗のお面が鎮座している。

【岩瀬の天狗の話】
オッサ山には大きな情のあつい人間みたいな天狗が住んでいた。ある年ヒデリで年貢がおさめられない村人を気遣い、天狗が名主の庭に｢今年は年貢をやめろ｣と毎晩石を投げた。庭いっぱいの石が人間業でないと気付いた名主は、心労から病気になった。人々は天狗の言うことを早くきいておけばと話していたとか。

天狗も気になりますが、境内に配置されている石仏(仁王や不動明王、地蔵など)が、ずんぐりしたフォルムだな、と。

There was a tengu like a human being with a big feeling on Mount Ossa. One year, in concern with a villager who couldn't pay his tribute in Hideli, Tengu threw a stone every night at the master's garden, saying "Stop this year's tribute." The master, who realized that the stones in the garden were not a human work, fell ill with care. People are saying that they should listen to what Tengu says early.
