稲	稲岡慶郎 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 川端は大正１０年（１９２１年）に三度岐阜を訪れている。ある女性に会うためであった。川端は当時東京帝国大学の学生であった。その二年前川端は東京のカフェで働いていた少女に出会い恋をする。その少女は伊藤初代。当時１３歳であった。初代はその後岐阜のお寺の養女となった。その出会いから二年後川端は岐阜を訪れ初代に再会する。川端２２歳、初代１５歳であった。そして二人はそこで結婚を約束する。川端と初代はこの時長良川の鵜飼いを見物している。この時の様子は小説「篝火」になっている。川端の初期の短編小説である。この小説に出てくる初代が養女となったお寺が実はここ西方寺である。小説の中では澄願寺として登場する。ここ西方寺は川端康成の小説の舞台でもある。その西方寺を数年前訪れてみたが、川端の小説の舞台となったことがわかるものは何もなかった。 Kawabata visited Gifu three times in 1921. In the novel, it appears as Sumiganji Temple. Saiho-ji is also the setting for Yasunari Kawabata's novel. I visited the Saiho-ji Temple a few years ago, but nothing turned out to be the setting for Kawabata's novel.
