鍋	鍋割山のギン太 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ いまは若宮町と、日吉町の一部となっていますが、昭和41年の町名変更まで、この辺りは才川町でした。前橋の製糸業が隆盛を究めた頃、糸繭市場の中心地として、才川町の賑やかさは頂点に達していました。いまは昭和レトロの、昔懐かしい雰囲気を残す商店街も、多くの人々が行き交い、繁盛を究めていたといいます。しかし、製糸業が斜陽になるとともに、この才川町も次第に寂れ、郷土の詩人である萩原朔太郎が「才川町」という詩を発表したときには、すでに場末のイメージの町となっていたようです。私自身も、父が事業に失敗して家も土地も他人の手に渡り、才川町に引っ越すとき、母が「とうとう都落ちすることになった…」と言うのを聞いて、子供心に何となく落胆したのを覚えています。この緑地公園に建てられた朔太郎の詩碑にも「この北へ向かえる場末の窓々…」と、暗く物悲しいイメージで描かれています。でも住んでみると、とても庶民的な温かい町でした。この公園の向かいにあった肉屋のコロッケは、揚げたてが美味しくて、夕暮れになると、いつも行列ができていました。魚屋の大将は、私が公民館で行った披露宴に、大盤振る舞いをしてくれました。私にとっては忘れられない町です(^_^ゞ Now it is a part of Wakamiyacho and Hiyoshicho, but until around the town name change of 1959, this area was Saikawacho.
