一般的な塩ウニは、ロシアやチリなど海外産のウニを使った練りウニが多い中、この甘塩うには佐井村沿岸のウニを使っているとのこと。青森県内で扱うスーパーマーケットは限られているため、運良く見つけた時は必ず買ってしまいます。
