★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 京の六地蔵のひとつで、山科駅前から一筋南の旧東海道を、東に歩いて6分くらいの距離です。道は国道1号の抜け道なのでクルマはひっきりなしにスピード出して通り抜けるので注意が必要です。
お寺はふだんはひっそりとしていますが、六地蔵巡りの時は山科から四宮までの区間にいろんな屋台が並び、大にぎわいです(道路もクルマは通行禁止になります)。六地蔵の中では一番にぎやかだと思います。
 It is one of the Rokujizo in Kyoto, and it is about a 6-minute walk east on the old Tokaido, which is just south of Yamashina Station. Please note that the road is a loophole on National Route 1, so the car will constantly speed up and pass through.
The temple is usually quiet, but when visiting Rokujizo, the section from Yamashina to Shinomiya is lined with various food stalls, and it is very busy (cars are prohibited on the road). I think it is the busiest in Rokujizo.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ JR山科駅、或いは京阪山科駅、或いは京都市営地下鉄山科駅から、旧東海道を京阪四宮駅方面へ歩くと、四宮駅よりはだいぶ手前にあります。
京都は平安時代より『地蔵盆』という風習がありまして、お盆の季節に6ヶ所ある地蔵菩薩を廻り、祈るという風習があります。

もちろん観光地の桜も素敵ですが、普段見慣れた日常生活の中に桜の風景、、こんな贅沢はないですね！

この像は、852年に小野篁が作った6体の地蔵菩薩のうちの一体で、6体それぞれが京の都に入る主要街道の入口に分置されている。
この6体の地蔵を巡拝する「六地蔵めぐり」が行われる。
