★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 2011年3月11日の東日本大震災の津波被害を受けて、陸前高田市役所は壊滅。翌12日に、高田町鳴石の高台にあるこの陸前高田市学校給食センターが陸前高田高田災害対策本部として利用された。全国各地からの救援物資などの分配なども行われた。
震災以前は、市内の小中学校18校分約2400食の給食を作っていた。現在は、約1400食となっている。
 Rikuzentakata City Hall was destroyed by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. The following day, the 12th, this Rikuzentakata City School Lunch Center on the hill of Naruishi, Takatacho was used as the Rikuzentakata Takata Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters. Relief supplies were also distributed from all over the country.
Before the earthquake, 18 elementary and junior high schools in the city prepared about 2,400 meals. Currently, there are about 1400 meals.
