現在は「館山公園」として整備されており石碑と案内板が設置されています。遺構として曲輪、空堀、土塁などがみられます。
麓の利府小学校がある場所に留守氏の屋敷などがあったと考えられており、この西側に登山道の入口があります。
【歴史】
伊達政宗公の叔父にあたる留守政景の居城として知られています。
もともとは留守氏一族の村岡氏の城で村岡城という名前でした。
ところが、伊達晴宗の三男が留守家の養子となることに反発したのが村岡氏で、政景は村岡氏を滅亡させると岩切城より居城を移して利府城と改めました。
その後留守氏は小田原合戦に参陣しなかったことから改易となり、天正18年(1590年)居城である利府城は廃城となりました。
政景は伊達政宗に従って大谷城へ移されます。

Rifu Castle Ruins
Currently, it is maintained as "Tateyama Park" and has a stone monument and information board. Kuruwa, empty moat, earthworks, etc. can be seen as the remains.
It is believed that the Rusu clan's mansion was located at the foot of Rifu Elementary School, and the entrance to the mountain trail is on the west side.
【history】
It is known as the residence of Rusu Masakage, the uncle of Date Masamune.
Originally, it was the castle of Mr. Muraoka of the Rusu clan and was named Muraoka Castle.
However, it was Mr. Muraoka who rebelled against the adoption of the Rusu clan by the third son of Date Harumune, and when Masakage destroyed Mr. Muraoka, he moved his residence from Iwakiri Castle and changed it to Rifu Castle.
After that, Mr. Rusu did not participate in the Odawara battle, so it was changed, and Rifu Castle, which was the residence of Tensho 18 (1590), was abandoned.
Masakage will be moved to Otani Castle according to Date Masamune.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 公園として整備されている城跡です。城跡としてはかなりの規模のもので、城跡を利用して作られた公園もいくつものブロックに分かれたかなりの規模のものになります。
駐車場も、城跡横の道路に10台程度停車できる駐車場が2か所設けられていますが、狭い道を奥まで進むと、砂利敷ですが20台程度停車できる広い駐車場と身障者用駐車場があります。
そこから徒歩で城跡を歩きまわることができます。じっくり見学すると軽く汗をかく程度に広いです。
残念ながら天守閣等は残っていません。現在、天守閣跡にはここに城があったという説明と桜の木が植えられています。
春にはきれいな桜の花が咲きます。
